Lenape High School Attendance Policy Highlights

School Hours

  • The school day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:27 p.m.  Students are expected to be present in their classroom by 7:30 a.m.
  • Late to school levels.  If a student arrives late to school, they must check in at the attendance office prior to proceeding to class.  If the arrival is between:
    • 7:30-7:45 a.m. - Level 1 Tardy Unexcused
    • 7:46-9:35 a.m. - Level 2 Tardy Unexcused
    • 9:36 and after - Level 3 Tardy Unexcused - half day absence

Please see handbook for details of consequences for repeated lates to school.

Documentation needed to excuse an absence

1) An original note from doctor or dentist
2) Court documentation (need paper from court)
3) Funeral / death in family (need program, mass card or copy of obituary)
4) College visit (juniors & seniors only - 3 visits per year; need documentation from college)
5) Take your child to work day (documentation from place of work)
6) Drivers test – this is only a partial day excused
7) Parent note - Three (3) parent notes are permitted per semester (1 note = 1 day). For example, if your student is out 3 days, you must submit 3 notes, and this would account for all your parent notes for that semester.

Other Information

1) A student may not have more than 9 unexcused absences in 1 year. Credit completion will be required at 10 or more unexcused absences.
2) You do not need to call if your student is absent. Please email all documentation to the Attendance Clerk (Rebecca Myers) - rmyers@lrhsd.org.
3) If someone else is picking up your child and is not in Genesis, please email the Attendance Clerk (Rebecca Myers - rmyers@lrhsd.org) in the morning in order to avoid the child's dismissal being delayed. A student will not be released without parental email permission.
